  • Showa period, 1928
  • lacquered wood, mother of pearl inlay

Crafts – Lacquerware

Minute patterns are expressed ingeniously by thin mother of pearl inlay on black-lacquer ground. Arranging irises and wisterias on the face of the tray, water ripples and carps on the back, a scene of refreshing early summer waterside is expressed. Made to hold the 《Scroll of contemporary genre scenes》.(「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.2」2003)
