National Treasure

A pictorial scroll which illustrates the acts of Takezaki Suenaga, vassal of the Higo Province who fought at the Mongolian Invasions of 1274 and 1281. Though there are various matters such as pages out of order or lacking and mixture of more than one piece which should be considered, the customs and depictions show the style of the Kamakura period. It is also valuable as visual images illustrating historical facts.(「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.1」2003)
