Bathed in the light of the full moon, a stream winds along the banks of a peaceful bamboo forest. The idyllic scene is rendered in maki-e, a decorative technique in which powdered precious metals are applied to damp lacquer. The moon is in silver powder, with its soft light depicted in gold flakes that diminish in size as they descend toward the ground. （「Nature's Splendor: Scenes of the Moon and Water」2024）
