Crafts – Lacquerware
The upper part of this box is finished in white, and the top of the lid is decorated with a Chinese lion and its cub running happily, facing each other, while the sides are decorated with red peonies. The base is made of light metal, mainly aluminum, and lacquer is applied on top of it for maki-e (sprinkled metal) decoration. The box was formerly owned by the family of the Prince of Chichibu.(「Imperial Splendor:Artworks Related to the Tohoku Region」2021)
