Paintings – Japanese / Asian Paintings

These are landscape screens in the Yamatoe painting style depicting the different appearance of spring and autumn in the garden of Akasaka Detached Palace. Although the pine trees, cherry blossoms and red maple leaves are depicted in traditional painting style, buildings, small birds and paddy fields are surprisingly expressed in detail based on actual sketching. They are pieces showing Wakanari's excellence in landscape painting.(「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.2」2003)
