Paintings – Japanese / Asian Paintings

This is attributed to Zhao Chang, known as a bird and flower painter of the Beisung Dynasty because of the colophon and the note of authentication on the box by Isen' in Naganobu of Kobiki-cho Kano school during the Edo period of the Beisung Dynasty. The absence of certain works by Zhao Chang makes this colorful dignified peony painting an indication of the tradition of paintings by Zhao Chang. Chinese bird and flower paintings such as this influenced modern Japanese painting greatly.(「New Edition Grace, Beauty and Inqenuity-Masterpices of the Museum of Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan Vol.1」2003)
