Fresh Spring Flowers

Fresh Spring Flowers

This is one of the “hanakago-zu”(literally “picture of flowers in a basket”), depicting various flowers in a basket or other vases. Blue and white wisterias are arranged in a bronze vase in the foreground, and peonies, Japanese globeflowers, and cherry blossoms, are arranged in a bamboo basket in the background. Other than these flowers arranged in vessels to be admired, spring grasses that seem as if they were just plucked, such as dandelions, violets, field horsetails, and horsetails are placed next to the vase. The warm and soft air of spring fills the painting with its bright colors and gentle painting style.(「Flowers of Felicitations」2019)
