Wagtails on a rock
Wagtails on a rock
A collaboration by the representative metal carving craftsmen of the Meiji period, Kano Natsuo (1828-98) and Unno Shomin (1844-1915). The wagtails and rock are silver, and the wooden stand in shape of a suhama (sandy beach) was designed by Maeda Kosetsu(1841-1915). It was a gift from the Tokyo Kawasho Kumiai (Tokyo Leather Merchant Union) celebrating the 25th Imperial Wedding Anniversary of Emperor Meiji.(「Auspicious Events of the Meiji Period」2018)
