Vase with hosoge (ancient imaginary flowers said to bloom in heaven) designs in copper red glaze

The hōsōge arabesque patterns in relief on the body covered with white glaze, partially appear from under the bright reddish purple copper red glaze, showing a diversified expression. Komori Shinobu, who studied old Chinese ceramics, and was well posted on blending glazes, created this work at his kiln which he built in Dalian, China. It is a keepsake of Empress Kojun.(「Reviewing Modern Ceramics」2021)
